Investigating the pathogenesis of respiratory disease
We are a very proactive, successful, internationally recognised, research intensive group. We have a number of Post-doctoral fellows research assistants, PhD and honours students and provide a stimulating and functional working working environment. We have all equipment and resources required. Most of our research focuses on the pathogenesis of respiratory disease and the interface between infection and asthma/COPD.
We have projects on the following topics:
Understanding the pathogenesis of infectious diseases caused by Chlamydia, Haemophilus, S. pneumoniae and influenza
Understanding the pathogenesis of asthma and COPD
Investigating the interactions between bacterial (Chlamydia, Haemophilus, S. pneumoniae) infections and asthma/COPD
Investigating the interactions between influenza infections and asthma/COPD
Virus and COPD-induced predisposition to secondary bacterial pneumonia
