See how easy it is to advertise your Australian PhD...
Once you have registered and are signed in, you will be shown the default account page which gives an overview of your listings
From this page, as with all other pages which are inside your account, you can use the right hand side navigation to move to Contacts Management, Profile & Security or logout from the system.
Create your new listing
To call up the screen to create a new listing is done by clicking on the Add a new PhD listing link. Similarly, if you already have a listing that you wish to amend, you can click on its title
The top portion of the listing editor consists of the following fields:
- Listing Type - a required field, you must select whether the listing you are creating consists of specific details of a titled PhD or is a general profile of areas research can be conducted in within your department.
- University or Institute - Your account is associated with the university or institute you selected when you registered. It cannot be changed, but it is shown for reference when creating or editing a listing.
- Department - listings must be associated with a department. In most cases this will be the department within which you work, but there is also the option of selecting a different department if required.
- Discipline - a required field, you should select at least one discipline which your listing relates to. This helps us to categorise your listing and will help prospective candidates find it via search tools.
- Project Title / Programme Title - a required field, this is the main title displayed above your general PhD description. If you are detailing a specific PhD project, you should provide the full title. If you are providing information on your department's PhD programme, use a meaningful title that tells users what your listing is all about.
- Your Project ID - this is optional and can only be provided if you are giving details of a specific PhD. It will be displayed on the PhD listing and can be used as a point of reference internally.
Using the WYSIWYG editor, you can provide as long a description of your PhD or PhD programme as you wish. The editor provides several useful features, including the ability to bold, underline and italicise text. Bulleted and numbered lists can be created also. There are facilities to paste content from MS Word, as well as from plain text sources.
The lower portion of the listing editor consists of the following fields:
- Keywords - an optional field (though it is highly recommended it be completed), you can specify keywords which relate to your listing. These keywords will then be used to complement your listing in areas of search and help us link more effectively to your listing.
- Eligibility - only required when listing specific projects, you indicate whether the position is open to Australian residents, Australian & New Zealand residents or to all applications, including international.
- Contacts - at least one contact should be selected. By default your details will appear in this list, though by clicking on the link Add a new contact, via the pop-up window that appears you can add the details of other contacts who can handle enquiries relating to your listing. One suggestion is to provide the details of project supervisors. Multiple contacts can be selected (or deselected), just hold down the Ctrl key whilst clicking selecting.
- Funding Options - if you are providing details of a specific PhD project this field will be displayed and at least one option should be selected.
- App. Deadline - this field is displayed only if you are providing details of a specific PhD project. Manually select an application deadline or use the calendar. If the PhD you are listing does not have an application deadline, simply check the Applications accepted year round option.
- YouTube Video - if your university, institute or department has a YouTube hosted video that you think will compliment the listing (everyone loves a video), all you need to do is paste in its URL and give it a title, your listing will then include the video automatically embedded. There'll be no need to re-enter the details for your next listing because all video details get stored for you and other users from your university/institute to simply select in future.
- Listing status - using this option, you control whether your listing appears on the website or not.
Once you have completed your listing, click the save button and providing you have indicated you would like your listing active, it will appear on the website immediately. Listings marked as inactive are still saved, they just do not appear on the website until you change their status.
